About Us
Training Investigators for Work That Carries Real Consequences
For Darren, the importance of the work is personal and direct. If a family learns that a loved one may have died in a fire, they deserve an investigation handled by professionals prepared to examine the scene thoroughly, coordinate across disciplines, and pursue answers with rigor.
That belief shapes the purpose of Red Ember Forensics: help investigators prepare for the mission, meet the demands of difficult scenes, and pursue the answers survivors deserve.

Federal Service, Fire Investigation, and Forensic Science
Dr. Solomon created Red Ember Forensics after retiring as a Senior Special Agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. He brings more than 33 years of local and federal law enforcement and investigative experience, including 25 years with ATF.
He served 12 years as an ATF-Certified Fire Investigator, deployed with ATF’s National Response Team, and served as Lead CFI on multiple large-scale, major-loss fire scene investigations across the nation.

A More Complete View of the Investigation
Fatal fire scenes cannot be fully understood through a single-discipline approach. Red Ember Forensics helps participants recognize how a successful investigation draws from the totality of available evidence, investigative avenues, and professional disciplines. This holistic approach supports strategies built to withstand challenge and scrutiny.
The goal is practical: give qualified professionals knowledge they can understand, techniques they can apply in the field, and a broader view of the resources available through other disciplines.
