RED EMBER
Prepare Investigators for Investigative Success
A fire scene presents challenges from the moment the response starts. Safety decisions, observations, photographs, notes, evidence handling, and interviews can all affect what investigators are able to determine and explain later.

Red Ember Forensics develops training around the full investigative picture, from first arrival through case review and final adjudication. Programs connect fire science, scene documentation, multidisciplinary coordination, and the practical demands investigators face in the field.
Training Built Around Real Investigative Responsibilities
01
Fire Investigation Training
Strengthen the core skills investigators use to process a scene, document observations, collect evidence, analyze data, and communicate their work. Available topics include scene safety, fire dynamics, fire scene photography, field notes, evidence collection, and origin-and-cause report writing.
02
Fatal Fire Investigation Training
Develop a more complete approach to scenes involving a fatality. Specialized topics may include forensic anthropology and burned remains, pathology and toxicology considerations, burned remains processing, and line-of-duty death investigations.
03
Case Consultation
Legal professionals handling fire-related matters can request a focused review of investigative materials, particularly in cases involving a fatality. The goal is to help counsel understand the investigative record, identify questions that merit closer examination, and prepare for informed case decisions.

A Multidisciplinary View of the Fire Scene
Fatal fire investigations can bring together fire investigators, law enforcement, crime scene personnel, medical examiners, coroners, forensic specialists, and legal professionals. Red Ember Forensics approaches training with that multidisciplinary team in mind.

Relationships with Western Carolina University’s forensic anthropology and forensic science programs, federal agencies, and private laboratories help connect instruction with current research, scene-processing practices, and fire investigation methodology. The result is training that moves beyond a presentation and gives participants techniques they can take back to their work.
